How It Works

Simple to start. Powerful over time.

Grove is a daily mentor for your child and a window into their growth for you. Here's what that actually looks like.

The Experience

What a session looks like

A typical session takes 10 to 25 minutes. Your child can talk or type. Grove meets them where they are.

01

Your child opens the app

Grove greets them by name and picks up where they left off. If they were exploring bridges yesterday, Grove might ask what they thought about on the bus ride home. The conversation feels natural because Grove actually remembers.

02

They talk about whatever they want

Maybe it's a homework problem. Maybe it's a fight with a friend. Maybe it's a random question about black holes. Grove follows their lead and gently steers toward deeper thinking. Voice or text, their choice.

03

Grove adapts in real time

If your child is frustrated, Grove slows down and validates. If they're bored, Grove raises the bar. If they make a connection to something they explored last month, Grove celebrates it. The difficulty, tone, and pacing all shift based on what's happening right now.

04

The session wraps up naturally

Grove doesn't cut them off mid-thought. When the conversation reaches a natural pause, Grove summarizes what they explored and plants a seed for next time. Your child walks away feeling heard.

05

You see what happened

Within minutes, your parent dashboard updates. You see what topics came up, what cognitive skills were exercised, and whether anything needs your attention. No guessing, no interrogating your kid at dinner.

Under the Hood

What makes Grove different

Most AI tools treat every conversation as a blank slate. Grove builds a living understanding of your child that gets deeper over time.

Remembers everything

Every conversation, every question, every breakthrough is stored in your child's knowledge graph. Session 47 can reference something from session 3. Nothing gets lost.

Builds a knowledge graph

Grove maps the connections between everything your child explores. When they learn about gravity in physics and then ask about tides, Grove links those concepts together. Over months, this graph becomes a map of how your child thinks.

Adapts in real time

Grove doesn't follow a script. If your child is struggling, it pulls back and scaffolds. If they're flying, it pushes harder. The difficulty, vocabulary, and emotional tone all shift based on what's happening in the moment.

Measures growth invisibly

There are no quizzes. No grades. No "you scored 7 out of 10." Grove tracks cognitive development through the texture of conversation itself. How your child reasons, how they handle ambiguity, how their vocabulary evolves. Growth happens naturally.

For Parents

Your parent dashboard

You shouldn't have to interrogate your child to find out what they're thinking. Grove shows you what matters, when it matters.

Weekly Reports

Every Sunday, you get a summary of the week. What your child explored, what skills they exercised, what patterns Grove noticed. Written in plain language, not data-speak.

Session Transcripts

Read every conversation, word for word. See what your child asked, how Grove responded, and what emerged. You have full visibility into every interaction.

Session #47

Maya:“Why do some people lie even when they don't have to?”
Grove:“That's a really interesting question. What made you think about that?”
Maya:“My friend said she liked my drawing but I could tell she didn't...”

Safety Alerts

If Grove picks up on emotional distress, mentions of bullying, or anything that might need your attention, you get notified right away. Email, push notification, or SMS.

Something to know

Maya mentioned feeling left out at recess twice this week. Grove validated her feelings and encouraged her to talk to you.

Getting started takes five minutes

01

You set the direction

Tell Grove who your child is. What matters to you, how they learn, what you hope for them. Share report cards, upload experiences, set boundaries. The more context you give, the better Grove understands from day one.

02

Your child talks to Grove

It starts with daily conversations. Over time, Grove becomes the place they go to explore ideas, work through problems, and ask questions nobody else will answer. It grows with them.

03

You see what matters

Clear insights on what they explored, what they struggled with, how they're changing. Weekly reports. Milestones. Alerts when something needs your attention. No data overload.

Frequently asked questions

How does Grove work?

Grove is an AI mentor that has daily conversations with your child through voice or text. Each session builds on the last — Grove remembers what your child explored, adapts to their current mood and energy level, and gently steers toward deeper thinking. After each session, parents receive real-time insights about what was discussed, which cognitive skills were exercised, and whether anything needs their attention.

Is Grove safe for my child?

Safety is built into every layer of Grove. The platform uses a 14-layer safety pipeline that classifies content in real time and automatically escalates any concerns to parents via SMS, email, or push notification. All content is age-gated to your child's developmental stage, and parents have full access to every session transcript. Grove never replaces human relationships — it's designed to deepen your connection with your child, not substitute for it.

What age is Grove designed for?

Grove is designed for children ages 5 through 16. The AI adapts its vocabulary, complexity, tone, and pacing based on your child's developmental stage — so a 6-year-old and a 14-year-old have very different experiences, both calibrated to where they actually are. Younger children benefit from Grove's voice-first interface, which removes any typing barrier and lets them learn through natural conversation.

How much does Grove cost?

Grove offers two plans per child: the Core plan at $119/month (or $99/month billed annually) includes up to 2 hours of daily conversation, and the Polymath plan at $499/month (or $399/month billed annually) includes unlimited conversations and full access to all tracking, reporting, and developmental insights. Families with multiple children can contact us for volume discounts. All plans include a 14-day guarantee.

Can I see what my child talks about?

Yes — parents have full visibility into every conversation. Your dashboard includes complete session transcripts, weekly summary reports written in plain language, and a living cognitive portrait called the Fingerprint that tracks your child's growth across dimensions like reasoning, creativity, and empathy. You'll also receive immediate alerts if Grove detects anything that warrants your attention, from mentions of bullying to signs of emotional distress.
